In a recent but aggressive trend, Elixir (formerly known as Envision Rx) has begun to issue payment and claim submission notices of suspension to pharmacies generally alleging that the pharmacies have engaged in or are engaging in activity or practices that are inconsistent with Elixir’s terms and conditions, without offering additional information to the pharmacies as it relates to the allegations; hence leaving the Pharmacy unable to address the underlying basis and resolve the suspension. Unfortunately, by issuing these notices of suspension, Elixir has caused an abrupt halt in a pharmacy’s ability to service its patients, in addition to a significant financial burden on a pharmacy’s operations. In many instances, Elixir has issued notices of suspension at the early onset of the audit process and prior to pharmacies having received audit results or an opportunity to appeal. The notices of suspension are being issued for a variety reasons ranging from audit results to affiliation with suspended or terminated pharmacies and can often lead to network termination if left unaddressed.
