Jose (“Josie”) Contreras is an Associate in Frier Levitt’s Life Sciences Litigation Department in the firm’s New York City office. His practice focuses on complex litigation matters, including product liability and commercial disputes, where he represents clients in both state and federal courts.
Prior to joining Frier Levitt, Josie practiced at an international law firm, where he worked on a broad range of litigation matters, including product liability, antitrust, commercial disputes, and government investigations. In this role, he handled key aspects of litigation strategy and case management, including drafting dispositive motions, responding to written discovery, preparing expert witnesses, and conducting legal research on complex issues. He also worked closely with clients, indemnitor counsel, and insurance carriers in connection with litigation matters.
During law school, Josie was deeply involved in trial advocacy and clinical legal work. At Harvard Law School, he served as Co-President of the Harvard Law School Mock Trial Association and competed nationally, earning multiple distinctions.
Before law school, Josie earned his B.A., magna cum laude, in Political Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where he was highly active in mock trial and received multiple advocacy awards.
Josie is admitted to practice in New York and is fluent in Spanish. Outside of his legal practice, he enjoys Brazilian jiu-jitsu, cooking, hiking, travel, jazz, and strength training.
