Frier Levitt co-founding partner Daniel Frier and senior counsel Theresa DiGuglielmo are featured in an Invision Magazine article, “American Optometric Association Town Hall Draws Hundreds as AOA and Affiliate Advocacy Earns Back Millions.” The article focuses on The American Optometric Association (AOA), who recently held a Reimbursement & Coverage Fairness Town Hall in late October. The virtual event, aimed at updating the profession on new developments, revealed that the AOA and affiliate advocacy efforts in 2024 have led to the recovery of nearly $3 million on behalf of doctors of optometry. This comes after launching a multi-pronged strategy in January to combat unfair practices by vision and health plans.
Daniel and Theresa, who are outside counsel to the AOA, spoke at the town hall, offering observations and guidance to practices. The article highlights their intel, which focuses on issues surrounding contracts of adhesion, vision care plan regulation acts, and the increased accountability created by greater transparency in the contracting process.
