Peter Sepúlveda represents healthcare providers and related entities in complex criminal, civil, and regulatory matters. He defends clients in state and federal investigations and prosecutions involving healthcare fraud, kickbacks, commercial bribery, and other alleged offenses. His practice also includes civil litigation under the False Claims Act (federal and state), as well as other insurance fraud laws, the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization Act and other civil laws.
Peter also advises clients on Medicare and Medicaid compliance, DEA and state regulatory investigations, and enforcement actions by agencies including the Bureau of Fraud Deterrence and Drug Control Unit. He also counsels clients navigating audits and investigations by third-party payors and PBMs.
Before joining Frier Levitt, Peter practiced law at a New Jersey firm, representing clients in a range of litigation and regulatory matters. From 2013 to 2022, he served as Bureau Chief of the New Jersey Medicaid Fraud Control Unit within the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor, where he led investigations and prosecutions involving fraudulent billing practices, illegal kickback schemes, and the diversion of prescription drugs.
Peter was also a staff attorney in the Investigations Division of the New Jersey Office of the State Comptroller earlier in his career. There, he investigated fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer funds. He started his prosecutorial career as an Assistant Prosecutor in the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
