Frier Levitt is Successful in having a Surprise Bill Complaint Dismissed
A metropolitan area dentist was being investigated by the Office of Professional Discipline (OPD) for a Surprise Bill infraction, a complaint that has become more common recently. Normally, after obtaining a copy of the dentist’s records, an interview by the OPD would be held. These interviews are often very stressful. We reconstructed the chronology with appropriate billing, chart, insurance documentation and copies of a check sent to the patient and explained in a pre-interview submission to OPD, point by point, how the Surprise Billing Law was followed to the letter of the law. The OPD closed the investigation prior to the interview which saved the dental physician a lot of time, money and aggravation that would have occurred if the process had continued and the interview held.
