Frier Levitt Successfully Defends Two Physicians Before the NJ Board of Medical Examiners

Article

Recently, Frier Levitt successfully represented two New Jersey-based physicians facing disciplinary actions before the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners.

In one case, the physician, a pain management specialist, was being investigated by the Board concerning the practices of opioid prescribing. The physician was facing greater scrutiny due to the prescribing of cancer breakthrough pain medication. Frier Levitt reviewed the physician’s standard operating procedures for opioid prescribing and presented evidence of no wrongdoing to the Board.  After consideration, the Board concluded that there was no basis to initiate disciplinary action against the physician. The matter was then placed into the Board’s confidential files.

In the second case, a physician was facing patient allegations of physician misconduct, including falsification of a report and medical records. After review, Frier Levitt found evidence of inaccuracies of the patient’s account which were presented to the Board. The Board ultimately sided with the physician, clearing them of any wrongdoing and closing the matter without disciplinary action. This matter remains confidential.
