FDA Extends Deadline to Comply with Drug Supply Chain Security Act Tracing to March 1, 2016

Article

The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) signed into law November 2013 requires dispensers, including pharmacies, to comply with certain requirements related to product tracing. Although these requirements took effect on July 1, 2015, the FDA had previously published guidance on July 6, 2015 indicating that it did not intend to take adverse action against dispensers who failed to comply prior to November 1, 2015.

In response to smaller independent pharmacies and health systems expressing the need for additional time, the FDA announced on Thursday that it will extend the previously issued Compliance Policy from November 1, 2015 to March 1, 2016.
