RECENT RESULTS OBTAINED BY FRIER LEVITT

Frier & Levitt has achieved substantial results on behalf of clients in personal injury, product liability, wrongful death and employment matters. In some cases, we are barred by Confidential Settlement Agreements from mentioning the names of our clients or the names of the defendants. However, we are permitted to reveal the types of claims and the amount of money we recovered by way of jury verdict or settlement.

  • $455,000 Settlement.  Auction Rate Securities.  We filed a Claim against two financial investment companies on behalf of our investor client after his auction rate securities (ARS) became illiquid as a result of repeated auction failures.  We settled the matter for the full value of the client’s ARS, plus attorney’s fees.

After the collapse of the auction rates securities (ARS) market, we filed a claim with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on behalf of our investor client and against two of the nation’s largest financial investment companies.  After being repeatedly assured that ARS were a “safe investment” and were the “equivalent of cash”, our client’s ARS investment became completely illiquid as a result of repeated auction failures.  We obtained a favorable settlement on behalf of our client whereby the financial investment companies agreed to redeem our clients ARS and pay attorney’s fees.
