Auction Rate Securities ("ARS")
Have You Been Unable to Liquidate Your Auction Rate Investments?
Contact Us. We can help.
Frier Levitt, LLC represents individuals and companies in arbitrations before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) involving disputes over auction rate securities (“ARSs”) sold to them by brokers.
We handle cases against Citigroup, E-Trade, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Raymond James Financial, UBS, AG, Wachovia Corp., Wells Fargo Investments, and other brokers, because often times, the ARS investments these brokers put you into are too unsuitable to your investment objectives. What are Auction Rate Securities?Auction Rate Securities (ARSs) are municipal bonds, corporate
bonds, and preferred stocks with interest rates or dividend
yields that are periodically re-set through auctions, typically
every 7, 14, 28, or 35 days. My Broker Invested Me In ARS And I Cannot Get My Money Back. What Are My Options? If your broker misled you and put your money into ARS based on representations that ARS were high-yield liquid investments, you may have limited options. You can hold onto your ARS until the issuer either redeems the securities or until a successful auction occurs. However, the likelihood that the issuer will redeem your ARS is speculative, and even if the issuer chooses to redeem your ARS, they may choose to redeem only a portion of your ARS and/or they will choose to redeem your ARS, but only at a discounted rate. Furthermore, given the current state of the ARS market, there is no guarantee that a successful auction will take place in the near (or distant) future. In sum, if you wait for either of these options to come
to fruition, you may find yourself waiting indefinitely and
may never recover your investment. |

Why Should I Choose Frier Levitt, LLC to Represent Me in My Own Arbitration Rather Than Joining a Class Action Proceeding?
You may have heard and/or read about the numerous class action arbitrations and lawsuits being filed across the country against brokers for ARS-related disputes since the collapse of the ARS market in February 2008. Before agreeing to become just one of thousands of class claimants, you should be aware that these class action proceedings could have draw-backs that you can avoid by engaging Frier & Levitt, LLC to represent you in your own individual arbitration.
